Toyota Avalon (XX50) 2019-2022 Service & Repair Manual: Power Seat Power Easy Access System Function does not Operate

DESCRIPTION

  • Perform either of the following and check that the driver seat moves rearward:
    • With the power switch off and the shift lever in P, unfasten the driver seat seat belt.
    • With the shift lever in P and the driver seat seat belt unfastened, turn the power switch off.
  • Perform either of the following and check that the driver seat moves forward:
    • With the shift lever in P, fasten the driver seat seat belt.
    • With the shift lever in P, turn the power switch from off to on (IG).

NOTICE:

  • The front power seat control system uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there is no malfunction in the CAN communication system. Refer to the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure.

When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT OPERATION

(a) Check that each function of the power seat operates normally by using the front power seat switch LH.

READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Driver Seat / Data List.

(e) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

(a) Temporarily replace the position control ECU assembly with a new or known good one.

INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the front seat inner belt assembly LH.

6.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POSITION CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the R32 position control ECU assembly connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
