REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during rear seat airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

  • Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.

NOTICE:

If a rear seat airbag assembly has been deployed, replace the rear seat airbag assembly, rear side seatback frame, rear side seatback pad and rear side seatback cover sub-assembly with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the engine switch (for Gasoline Model) or power switch (for HV Model) off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER (for HV Model)

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

for Gasoline Model: Click here

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

4. DISCONNECT REAR CENTER SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION LOCK HOOK

7. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP

HINT:

Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that allows the removal of the rear side seatback assembly.

8. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT GUIDE

10. REMOVE REAR SIDE SEATBACK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

11. REMOVE REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:

When storing the rear seat airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

Deployment Side

(a) Disengage the clamp.

(b) Disconnect the wire harness from the wire harness clamp.

(c) Remove the 2 nuts and rear seat airbag assembly.

NOTICE:

  • Do not reuse the nuts.
  • Make sure that the rear side seatback frame is not deformed. If it is deformed, replace it with a new one.
