Toyota Avalon (XX50) 2019-2022 Service & Repair Manual: Backup Battery Failure (B15CC)

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is set when the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) detects one of the following:

• The BUB (Back-Up Battery) voltage drops or the BUB (Back-Up Battery) malfunctions.
• The BUB (Back-Up Battery) temperature is (temporarily) high.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

Before performing this diagnostic procedure, make sure to perform Health Check and confirm that the DCM/VIN registration information is correct.

PROCEDURE

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.

(d) Turn the Techstream on.

(e) Clear the DTCs.

(f) Recheck for DTCs.

CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

A

(a) Replace the BUB (Back-Up Battery) with a known good one and check if the same problem occurs again.

The BUB (Back-Up Battery) must not be replaced while an ACN call is in progress.

(a) Recheck for DTCs and check if the same trouble occurs again.

No DTC is output.

(a) Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

• The engine switch must be off.
• Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.
